This book is for parents who are experiencing the wonders and challenges of raising young children.

There may be some days when you want to get away from it all. If you cannot identify with this sentiment, then this book may not be for you.

The Runaway Mommy imagines what life would be like if she ran away. The mommy learns flamenco dancing in Barcelona, joins a tech startup in San Francisco and hits the campaign trail interning for a presidential candidate. All the while, her little one follows with a captivating eagerness that ultimately brings the mommy back right where she belongs.

Wonderfully illustrated book about the inseparable bonds between parent and child written in fashion to Margaret Wise Brown's, Runaway Bunny, a childhood favorite. A must have for any parent struggling to find balance with their own dreams, the demands of parenthood and the love of a child.
-- Reviewer

“This is perhaps one of those rarest books, a children’s book that can equally be enjoyed by parents… It is a very heartwarming story that would make you want to come back to over and over again.”
-- Dr. Bojan Tunguz, Top 50 Reviewer

“... a lovely children’s book (or maybe parents’ book?)... The illustrations by Scott Rim are charming, and anyone who’s in the midst of the heaven and the hell of parenthood will be able to relate. Jane’s story reminds parents of what they had to give up, but also argues that it was worth it.”
-- Gene Yang, Author and winner of the American Library Association’s Printz Award

The Runaway Mommy edition by Jane Paris Scott Rim Humor Entertainment eBooks

This book contains a similar story to The Runaway Bunny except that in this edition the parent is running away from the child. The text layout and illustrations are simple, suggesting that the book is appropriate for younger children. On the other hand, the vocabulary which includes things like a tech startup, trauma surgeon, and flamenco dancer, probably won't resonate with a younger child. The plot revolves around a mother bunny who threatens to run away and pursue new careers around the globe. Her young child is willing to accompany her no matter what role she decides to pursue.

This short book could be an amusing bedtime story if the parent is careful to explain he or she does not intend to run away. The humor will be appreciated more by adults than children.

The Runaway Mommy edition by Jane Paris Scott Rim Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

I liked the title of the book. As the mother of a very active six-and-a-half-year-old boy, I can so much relate to sometimes running away as a single parent. Cute and worth a look if you've ever felt like running away from home.
Read it once, twice, thrice and read it to your child a hundred times. Quietly cute. As parents there are times when we want to imagine running away from the humdrum day to day parent experience and imagine running off and doing all the things this author postulates; but we don't, because our children despite their "messiness, noisiness, and energetic untiredness", are our children and we love them.
Hilarious! I bought this as a download after reading a portion of the copy my boss purchased. We both laughed out loud. Upon returning home that evening, I read it (giggling the whole time) to my 11 year old daughter, who proceeded to call me 'twisted'. Go figure. Then we got to the end and she smiled.....and we hugged.
I read this book to my grandson and he loved it. The pictures are nice too! Plan on reading more from this author.
As a teacher, I always find it fun for kids to see a different perspective on classic stories such as The Runaway Bunny. They love reading different versions of fairy tales from various cultures and perspectives. It's a fun way to encourage students to write their own version of their favorite stories.

I'm sure many parents can identify with the joys and challenges of being parents. I'm not a parent, but I know as a teacher I've escaped into "what if" moments like the ones expressed in this book. Our imagination can help us drift us to places and experiences that we long for, but we can also experience even deeper joys in the simple things that children do and say. The Runaway Mommy brings that to light in a sweet way. The illustrations in this book portray the sentiments of the author's intentions in an adorable way.

This is a wonderful book to read as a family.
Cute story. My kids love the Runaway Bunny and I got it for free on my for myself as a laugh. One day, my 5 year old came across it on the Fire and asked me to read it to him. To my surprise, he thinks this book is hilarious, especially the part where the little bunny drinks grape juice on the white couch. He appreciates that mommies get stressed and need a break sometimes, just like he does, but that no one is actually going to run away. As he says, families are forever.
This "children's book" is deceptive in its simplicity. Though the text and illustrations elegantly echo the original Runaway Bunny, in fact this is not really a book for children, but an intelligent contemplation for parents on why the keep on doing what they do for their children. The story artfully expresses a feeling to which many parents can relate, at least in fleeting moments, especially parents who have made significant career sacrifices for the sake of their children. As we join the Runaway Mommy in considering the many paths not taken, we are brought back to the love that makes all those sacrifices worth the cost.
